Steve Griffin, principal at Highland Hills Middle School and Bill Briscoe, assistant superintendent of the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp. meet with parents and members of the New Albany NAACP to discuss how the school handled costumes students wore at a basketball game on Feb. 8. Griffin said whether students were ignorant of the racial connotation of their masks and outfits, he apologized for not recognizing the issue sooner and explained how he plans to handle themed basketball games at his school from now on.
