WELCOME: The time is now Floyd County

How time flies by. I hear myself saying that over and over these days.

The holidays came and went. It seems like Christmas was months ago, and I can’t even remember as far back as Harvest Homecoming (which for me, is the unofficial beginning to the holiday season here in Floyd County). And now, several weeks into the new year and I’ve already forgotten about my resolution.

Why do we wait for the beginning of the new year anyway? Aren’t we really just putting things off another day? I don’t want to wait another 10 months to start a fitness plan, to organize my closets and to incorporate more smiles into my daily life.

The time is now. Not tomorrow, not next month — now. If we strive to make every single day a new beginning, just think how ahead of the game we’ll be by 2011.

Need a little inspiration? This issue includes a motivating story about Dutch Vigar, a New Albany man who won’t even let retirement stop him from working hard and staying fit. You will also find tips from local physicians to boost your health this year. Plus, we’ve included a guide to places in Floyd County where you can warm up your body, mind and belly.

Finally, I hope you enjoy a new regular feature called “Faces of Floyd” where we’ll highlight short interviews with local residents and workers.

Enjoy the last days of winter. Spring is just around the corner.
