SEVERE WEATHER: National Weather Service issues thunderstorm warning for Clark County

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for an area that includes northwest Clark County.

The warning was issued at 3:19 p.m. today, and will be in effect until 4:05 p.m., according to the National Weather Service website. At 4:05 p.m., the NWS extended the warning to 4:35 p.m. 

The warning states that winds are expected to gust up to 70 mph, and damage to trees, mobile homes and outbuildings. 

In addition to northwest Clark County, the warning also covers north central Harrison County, western Jefferson County, southeast Orange County and all of Scott and Washington counties.

The NWS encourages those located within the warning area to get inside move to an interior room of the lowest floor of the buildings they occupy. 

Additionally, the NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all counties in the Kentuckiana region. The watch will be in effect until 11 p.m. today, June 26. 

At 4:51 p.m., the NWS issued a flood advisory for Clark and Floyd counties. The advisory is in effect until 7:30 p.m. today.
