COLLEGE BASKETBALL: IUS men defeat Purdue Calumet, 80-69

The Indiana University Southeast men’s basketball team got its second victory of the weekend on Saturday, defeating host Purdue Calumet 80-69. The victory was the Grenadiers’ fourth win in their last five contests.

New Albany graduate Derick Hobbs paced IU Southeast (10-7) with 17 points and three steals. Teammates Carlos Mitchell and Alex Gravelle scored 16 and 11 points, respectively.

The Grenadiers shot 45 percent from the field and outrebounded Purdue Calumet, 34-31. They will host Spalding on Tuesday.



WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

• IUS loses at Oakland City: The Grenadiers dropped below the .500 mark with a 83-73 loss at Oakland City.

Three IUS players scored in double digits, led by Andrea Chambers with 19 points. Chambers also had a game-high 12 rebounds and a game-high five assists. Teammates Whitney Duncan and Lauren Brim each tallied 10 points.

The Grenadiers (7-8) will host Asbury on Tuesday.
