Ramp from I-65 North to I-64 West reopens

LOUISVILLE — The ramp from Interstate 65 North to I-64 West reopened to traffic Monday afternoon, as repairs to a deteriorated support column are complete.

The ramp closed Feb. 1, allowing Walsh Construction Co. to begin repairs. Walsh Construction is the leader of the design-build team that is building the downtown crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

Crews removed the deteriorated concrete, replaced damaged steel rebar and poured a new layer of concrete around the column to encase the repaired core.

The entire ramp will be torn down and replaced in 2015 as part of the reconstruction of the Kennedy Interchange, which is a major part of the project.
