Temporary I-65 exit opens Tuesday

Motorists should use caution navigating new ramp

JEFFERSONVILLE — The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next week in connection with construction on the downtown crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

A new traffic pattern will impact drivers in Jeffersonville next week. Traffic will be shifted from the existing exit 0 ramp on Interstate 65 north to the new exit 0 ramp. It will be important for motorists to follow the 25 mph speed limit in place on the new ramp.

The traffic switch to the new ramp is expected to happen during the day on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The new, temporary exit 0 ramp is expected to be used by drivers into 2016.

Work currently underway in Louisville includes a closure on Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, through Wednesday, Dec. 4, for work on a storm sewer.

Witherspoon Street from east of the Slugger Field parking lot to Clay Street is scheduled to be closed through Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Lane restrictions are expected on Witherspoon Street, from Preston Street to Clay Street, through Friday, Dec. 20, for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

The right lane of westbound Witherspoon Street, from River Road to Adams Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Dec. 20, for work on a retaining wall.

The left lane of Main Street, from Hancock Street to Jackson Street, is scheduled to be closed through Thursday, Dec. 5, for work on retaining walls.

The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Dec. 20, for abutment work.

The right lane and right parking lane on Preston Street, from Market Street to Liberty Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Dec. 20, for pile driving.

The left lane and both parking lanes on Jefferson Street, from Jackson Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Dec. 20, for pile driving and excavation work.

The right lane and left lane of Liberty Street, from Floyd Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 7, for excavation and demolition work.

Work Scheduled for next week on the Kentucky side of the downtown crossing includes the overnight closure of the ramp from I-64 east to I-71 north Monday, Dec. 2, for temporary striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

One lane of I-64 east from I-65 to just east of the I-71 north exit is scheduled to close overnight Monday, Dec. 2, for temporary striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

One lane of I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to the I-64/I-71 merge with I-65 is scheduled to close overnight Monday, Dec. 2, for temporary striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Rolling closures are expected to begin overnight Tuesday, Dec. 3 and Wednesday, Dec. 4, on I-65 north and I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to Muhammad Ali Boulevard for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

Rolling closures are also expected overnight Tuesday, Dec. , and Wednesday, Dec. 4, on I-64 east and I-64 west from 22nd Street to Story Avenue for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

The right lane of the ramp from I-71 south to I-65 south is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, Dec. 3, for milling and overlay work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Lane restrictions are expected on Floyd Street, from Liberty Street to Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Wednesday, Dec. 4, for pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.
