Bridge work to cause upcoming closures

LOUISVILLE — The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week and next week in connection with construction on the Ohio River Bridges Project.

For the downtown crossing, closures for work underway include:

LOUISVILLE

• The closure of Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, through Friday, Oct. 11 for pile driving in the area.

• The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Oct. 11 for pile driving in the area.

• Lane closures are expected on Witherspoon Street, from Adams Street to Preston Street, through Monday, Oct. 7 for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

• Both parking lanes on Jefferson Street, from Jackson Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Monday, Oct. 7 for work on a temporary signal.

• Both parking lanes on Preston Street, from Market Street to Jefferson Street, are scheduled to be closed through Monday, Oct. 7 for work on a temporary signal.

• Work scheduled for next week in Kentucky includes the closure of one lane of Interstate 71 north from I-64 to just east of Frankfort Avenue overnight Monday, Oct. 7 for work on temporary lighting. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• Work scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 includes the overnight closure of the ramp from I-64 east to I-71 north for sign removal. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• One lane of I-64 east from Ninth Street to the I-71 north ramp is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, Oct. 8 for sign removal. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• Work scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 includes the ramp from I-71 south to I-64 west, which is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Oct. 9 for sign removal. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• One lane of I-71 south from just east of Frankfort Avenue to the I-64 west ramp is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Oct. 9 for sign removal. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• Work scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11 includes the overnight closure of the right lane of I-65 south from Main Street to the Jefferson Street exit. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

• On Saturday, Oct. 12, the right lane of I-65 south from Main Street to the Jefferson Street exit is scheduled to close overnight. The closure will be in place through Monday morning for demolition work in the area. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.

• On Louisville streets work scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 7 includes the closure of Witherspoon Street, from Adams Street to River Road, and remain in place until Saturday, Oct. 12 for pile driving in the area.

• The intersection of Preston Street and Jefferson Street is scheduled to close Friday, Oct. 11 through Monday, Oct. 14 for demolition work in the area. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.



INDIANA

• Continuing closures and restrictions in Indiana include the closure of Broadway Street from Court Avenue to Sixth Street. This includes the closure of the Sixth Street ramp to I-65 north. Seventh Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street and VFW Boulevard has closed from Seventh Street to Ninth Street. The aforementioned closures are permanent closures.



EAST-END

• The east-end crossing will also see some lane closures. Beginning Thursday, Oct. 10 the Gene Snyder Freeway will be one lane northbound and one lane southbound from U.S. 42 all the way to the I-71 interchange. The lane restriction will likely continue through the duration of the east-end portion of the project.
