Ned Pfau headed for JA’s Hall of Fame

Jeffersonville businessman one of three to be inducted this year

LOUISVILLE — Jeffersonville businessman Ned Pfau Jr. will be one of three area business and civic leaders inducted into the 30th Annual Kentuckiana Business Hall of Fame to benefit Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana on Thursday.

The event will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center Cascade Ballroom. A reception honoring the inductees will be at 6 p.m. followed by the awards dinner at 7 p.m.  

The event recognizes individuals for their significant contributions to the Greater Louisville business and civic communities, according to a press release. Those honored demonstrate business excellence; courageous thinking and actions; vision and innovation; inspiring leadership; and community involvement. Also, they are role models for our future generations. The Laureates are chosen by a selection committee independent of the Junior Achievement Board of Directors, staff and WDRB-TV.

These distinguished business leaders will join 93 previously honored Kentuckiana Business Hall of Fame recipients: Pfau, president and CEO, Geo. Pfau’s Sons Co., Inc.; the late C. Edwin Gheens, owner, Bradas & Gheens Candy Co.; and William M. Street, former President of Brown-Forman Corp.

Pfau is a fourth generation CEO of Geo. Pfau’s Sons Co.. This Jeffersonville manufacturing firm is a worldwide leader in the processing and manufacturing of customized specialty fats and oils. The Pfau Co. maintains warehouses throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Born in Jeffersonville in 1943, Pfau graduated from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1965. He became CEO of Geo. Pfau also in May of 1965.

Pfau’s current directorships include Community Bank Shares of Indiana; Indiana University Foundation; Ivy Tech Community College — state trustee; Indiana Manufacturers Association; Ogle Foundation; and River Ridge Commerce Center. He has been chairman of Clark County United Way, Rehab Center and Goodwill Industries and Indiana University National Varsity Club. Past directorships include Bank One Kentucky; Indiana Port Commission; Indiana State Chamber of Commerce; and Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis — Louisville Branch.
