The owner of Big Four Burgers+Beer in Jeffersonville and The Irish Exit in New Albany has purchased another location for a new restaurant concept.
Local entrepreneur Matt McMahan said this week he has obtained the former Down River Bar & Grill at 7815 Old Ind. 311 in Sellersburg. Pending approval of a Liquor License, with a hearing set for Aug. 7, McMahan said the restaurant will be rebranded as Charlie Nobel’s Eatery+Draught House.
McMahan foreshadowed Charlie Nobel’s as a “Margaritaville meets Cheeseburger in Paradise concept.”
“We will have a traditional American cuisine as well as some seafood dishes,” McMahan stated in an e-mail to the News and Tribune Tuesday.
“The chef that created the Big Four Burgers+Beer menu will be creating this menu. All house made sauces and recipes.”
Charlie Nobel’s will have about 30 beers on tap too, McMahan added.
He still plans on opening a New Albany Big Four Burgers+Beer location, as McMahan said the final steps of the building permit process for the spot are being taken.
“This location won’t take a lot of time to build out so we are going to open it first,” he said.
