Beer, wine-tasting event puts spotlight on downtown Jeffersonville

Hops, Shops and Chardonnay highlights historic district


JEFFERSONVILLE — For the fifth year, Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. and local businesses will be hosting a beer and wine tasting event in historic downtown Jeffersonville.

Hops, Shops and Chardonnay, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, offers local businesses a chance to showcase their stores, while featuring tasting stations for craft beers and local wines. More than 30 different wines and more than 11 different beers will be offered at the event. Several of the area wineries on-hand offering tastings will also be selling wine by the bottle, according to a news release from Jeffersonville Main Street, Inc.

Along with the wine and beer tastings, a variety of hors d’oeuvres will be offered. A number of live musical acts will also be performing at the event and some local shops will be offering special sales.

The musical acts will include performances by American Idol contestant Emmy Bodner, local favorites Tom & Ricky, Joyful Noise, Kriss Luckett, Tammy Burke Trio, Memphis Beck and Mike O’Bryan and West of Dublin, according to the release.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 prior to the event at Choices Boutique, Schimpff’s Confectionery, The Springs Salon & Spa and Budget Print, or online at Tickets are $20 the day of the event, if still available, and can be purchased at the registration area in the Glossbrenner Garden at the corner of Spring and Chestnut streets. All attendees must register at Glossbrenner Garden before participating in the beer and wine tastings. The first 250 people through the registration area will also receive a commemorative glass.

Those who wish to attend, but not participate in the wine, beer or food tastings may visit the shops free of charge, according to the release.
