Deadline to register for LSI’s new program nears

Those interested in learning more about public service can sign up by Friday

SELLERSBURG — The deadline to sign up for Leadership Southern Indiana’s newest program is approaching.

Engage is a six-month professional development program is designed for individuals seeking board membership with community agencies as well as political office, according to a press release.

“We recognize the challenges of modern day public service and want to provide our leaders with the skills they need to be successful,” said Mark Eddy, LSI’s executive director in the release.

Eddy said that the organizing committee designed the program for individuals already in public service who want to make an even greater impact as well as emerging leaders who want to be more involved in their community. Engage will cover a variety of topics including communications, ethics, board structure, political structure and personal branding. Norton Healthcare is sponsoring the program.

“We’re so proud to launch Engage,” said Candice Barksdale, LSI board chair and CEO at Goodwill of Southern Indiana, in the release. “LSI has long been a catalyst for leadership development in our region with our flagship Discover program, and Engage is the logical next step as we grow our program offerings.

“While we encourage LSI Discover program graduates to apply, anyone in the region interested in public service will find great value in this program.”

The cost to participate is $995 for LSI members and $1,195 for nonmembers. The program kicks-off Aug. 22 at Wooded Glen in Henryville and will meet monthly through March.

Those interested can learn more and apply online at leadershipsi.org. The application deadline is  Friday, June 28.
