UPDATE: Henryville man dies following one-car accident

23-year-old pronounced dead at University Hospital in Louisville

A 23-year-old Henryville man died following a wreck about a half mile south of Beagle Club Road on U.S. 31 on Friday afternoon.

Clinton A. Dotson reportedly lost control of his Ford Contour and drove off the left side of the road before overcorrecting an driving off the right side of the road, according to Clark County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Chuck Adams. The vehicle crashed into an embankment and collided with a tree.

Adams said emergency personnel initially believed Dotson was dead when they arrived at the scene, and it took at least 20 minutes to extricate him from the vehicle.

Dotson was revived at the scene and transported by Stat Flight Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Friday, according to an obituary.

Dotson was attending Ivy Tech Community College and had previously been a student at Indiana University in Bloomington. He graduated with honors from Henryville High School in 2004.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, and a routine blood-alcohol test was requested.

“Officers there said the car was one of the worst they had ever seen,” Adams said.

No one else was involved in the crash.

The accident was reported Saturday in The Evening News, but updates were unavailable. Dotson’s obituary appeared in Sunday’s edition.
