I-64, Ind. 64 ramps close Thursday

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the closing of the eastbound on and off ramps for Ind. 64 and Interstate 64. The ramps will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, and will reopen by 5 a.m. on Friday. During the closure workers will be performing pavement removal and asphalt operations.

The work is weather dependent.

INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a highway construction zone.

NAACP hosts Freedom Fund Luncheon

The New Albany branch of the NAACP will host its 2009 Freedom Fund Luncheon on Saturday. This luncheon will be at the Culbertson West, 904 East Main Street, in New Albany and is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jeff Johnson a Washington, D.C. based award-winning journalist, social activist and political commentator.

ISP to conduct DUI checkpoint

The Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg will conduct a driving under the influence enforcement check point in Floyd County beginning in the evening hours of Nov. 25, and ending in the early morning hours of Nov. 26.

Motorists that are not impaired can expect only short delays while passing through the check point.

Troutman named vice president of physician services at FMH

Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services recently named Kathy Troutman, MSM, to its leadership team in the position of vice president of physician services. Prior to joining Floyd Memorial, Troutman served as the director of physician services at Baptist Hospital East.

Troutman brings more than 20 years of experience working with physicians and hospital leadership. In her new role, Troutman’s responsibilities will include fostering positive relationships with all physicians, leading the Floyd Memorial Medical Group employed-physician group, and recruiting new physicians as determined by community need.

“We are very excited to welcome Kathy to our leadership team,” said FMH President and CEO Mark Shugarman, FACHE. “Physician relations is key to the hospital’s success and Kathy has a proven track record in establishing and maintaining positive and long-lasting partnerships with physicians.”

Troutman holds a Masters of Science in management from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, and a Bachelor of business administration from Northwood University in Midland, Mich. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Kentucky Healthcare Strategy Group.

IUS hosts Juried Student Art Show

Indiana University Southeast will host The Juried Student Art Show from Thursday through Jan. 12, 2010, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. and awards ceremony at 6 p.m., Thursday in the Ronald L. Barr Gallery, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany.

The show will be juried by Julie Schweitzer.

Wiseheart to host ‘Meet The Candidate’ tonight

Lee Ann Wiseheart, candidate for Indiana Senate District 46, invites the public to a 'Meet the Candidate' event from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Perkfection Cafe in downtown Jeffersonville. Perkfection Cafe is located at 359 Spring St.

The free event is hosted by the Team Wiseheart committee. Wiseheart, the current vice president of the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp. Board of Trustees, will talk with attendees and give a speech at the event.
