Clarksville police officers recently were called to the police station to investigate a scam involving a woman, an alleged church affiliate and Neil Huffman Honda.

This scam involved a telephone call to a woman at Silver Street United Methodist Church, located in New Albany. A man claiming to be part of an Ohio-based Methodist church said a person from church was in need of money, a bus ticket and car repairs and that he was stranded at a Neil Huffman, a car dealership.

The female victim said she spoke to a supposed Neil Huffman employee who said the situation was “legitimate,” that the person in question was at their dealership.

The female allegedly scammed drove to the Huffman, met the church member and gave him $90 for a bus ticket and food. She later was told that Neil Huffman never had his car in their possession.

The woman then received a telephone message from a pastor suggesting that she was probably scammed. He said an e-mail about these types of scams was sent to multiple churches.
