Annual Freedom Walk on tap
Henryville will join cities across America to host the annual Freedom Walk to commemorate the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and honor veterans. The Freedom Walk will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Henryville High School track and will end at 1:40 p.m.
Sponsored by Henryville Elementary School, walk participants will include all kindergarten students through sixth graders. They will walk during their recess times.
The walk calls on people to reflect on the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001, honor our veterans, past and present, and renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country.
FMH Auxiliary selling mums
Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services Auxiliary is having its annual fall mums sale Thursday, Sept. 12. The sale begins at 7 a.m. and will run while supplies last.
This sale will be in the front main lobby of the hospital, 1850 State St., New Albany. These mums will be in 8-inch pots for $8, 12-inch patio pots at $24; and hanging baskets for $18. They will be available in burgundy, yellow, pink, purple or bronze while the supply last.
Payment may be cash or check and hospital employees may use payroll deduction. Proceeds from this fundraiser goes toward auxiliary projects, which include comfort pillows for surgery patients, wheelchairs, scholarships, department requests and more. For additional information call 812-948-6734.
Young to host office hours
The office of Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., announced that staff will be holding mobile office hours in Floyd County from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. The mobile office will be located at New Albany-Floyd County Public Library at 180 W. Spring St.
Constituents who need help in dealing with a federal agency are encouraged to visit during this time as caseworkers will be present to assist them. Constituents who have questions or would like to reserve time for a meeting should contact the Jeffersonville Constituent Service Center at 812-288-3999.
