SELLERSBURG

Speed Park to be rededicated

ESSROC Italcementi Group has partnered with local Scout Troop 4006 of Sellersburg to revitalize historic Speed Park in Sellersburg.

Area residents will now enjoy enhanced areas of Speed Park, including new playground equipment, a refreshed gazebo and improved green spaces.

The community is invited to a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at Speed Park at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, June 30. Following the ribbon-cutting, Art in Speed Park resumes its anticipated Picnic in the Park Summer Concert Series with Morgan Shallcross, singer/songwriter from a regional favorite band, Stonewheel. The community concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic items and to invite family and friends to this special evening of community, celebration and music.

McDonald's restaurants collecting money for charity Monday

McDonald’s Restaurants of Kentuckiana along with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana will celebrate the annual “RMHC Day of Change,” a program that encourages supporters to bring their spare change to any area McDonald’s restaurant as a donation to RMHC.

Last year, more than $28 million was raised through RMHC donation boxes at McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. RMHC of Kentuckiana Day of Change will be Monday, July 1.

Library hosting Meet & Mingle July 1

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is hosting the monthly midday Meet & Mingle at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Strassweg Auditorium.

Alan Rhody to perform at Library

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is presenting Nashville singer/songwriter Alan Rhody for a free concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, in the Strassweg Auditorium, 180 W. Spring St., New Albany.

Rhody will perform his music of original songs followed by a discussion of the art of songwriting. He has released seven CDs of original music and will have some CDs available for purchase after the show.

A couple of Rhody’s more well-known songs are “I’ll Be True to You” recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys and “Train Wreck of Emotion,” recorded by Lorrie Morgan. Come for an afternoon of good music and an interesting discussion. For more information, call 812-949-3523.
