Showcase of Fashions at fairgrounds this weekend
The annual Showcase of Fashions, sponsored by the Clark County Extension Homemakers and Purdue Extension, is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 6, in the Community Building at the Clark County 4-H Fairgrounds, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.
The contest is for individuals who sew and are interested in competing at the county and state level. The state contest is held in conjunction with the Indiana State Fair which is held in August each year.
The Showcase is open to all Clark County residents in a variety of categories. The categories are no longer divided by age. However, there is a special county category for seamstresses under the age of 18. The divisions are nonprofessional and professional seamstresses. Garments modeled must have been made after Sep. 1, 2012.

Library to host ‘Girls’ Night Out’
Charlestown Library, 51 Clark Rd., Charlestown, will sponsor a “Girls’ Night Out,”, 6 p.m., July 22, at the library.
The group will watch one of Nicholas Spark's popular movie adaptations. This recent release will be a sure hit for a girl's night out. Feel free to bring a mother, a sister or friends.

Workshop and concert at library
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is presenting a free concert and workshop on Saturday, July 13, by the Corydon Dulcimer Society. The workshop, from 3 to 4 p.m., will be in the Applegate Room and the concert will follow at 4:15 p.m. in the Strassweg Auditorium.
The musicians of the Corydon Dulcimer Society play a variety of acoustic instruments including the guitar, violin, banjo and mandolin. The workshop is for people wanting to learn to play the dulcimer, and instruments will be provided.
