NEW ALBANY

Church hosting holiday event

A holiday celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at St. John Presbyterian Church, 1307 East Elm St., New Albany.

Featuring performances by St. John Chancel and Handbell Choirs, including carol singing, instrumental solos and duets, vocal soloists and ensembles and selections played in the historic Pipe Organ. Excerpts from “Holy Light” cantata will also be enjoyed.

DePauw hosting tailgate dinner

DePauw Methodist Church will be holding a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at the church, 925 Vincennes St., across from New Albany High School.

The menu will include boneless Swiss chicken, baked potato, green beans, Jello salad, dessert and a drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and 5 and under eat free. Call 812-945-6537 for more information.

The church will also be holding a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the church. The menu will include smoked pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and a drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and 5 and under eat free.

Church hosting variety show

Central Christian Church, 1315 E. Spring Street, New Albany, will sponsor a holiday variety show titled “Sights and Sounds of Christmas” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with show and hors d’oeuvres and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, with show and desserts.

The show will include a variety of solo and group acts consisting of music, readings and audience sing-along to celebrate the Christmas season. The cost is adults, $15; age 12 and under, $5.

The Crashers playing at K of C

Knights of Columbus, Cardinal Ritter Council 1221 of New Albany, will sponsor The Crashers, benefiting Catholic Charities for Tornado Relief from 8 p.m. to midnight, Friday, Dec. 7, at the Knights of Columbus, 809 E. Main St.., New Albany.

Tickets are limited. Must 21 and over and ID is required. Cash bar with snacks provided.
