Bike/Ped plans to be presented to the public

Three public meetings scheduled for next week

JEFFERSONVILLE — To help Jeffersonville prepare for thousands that are expected to hit the city’s streets once the Big Four Bridge ramp is completed, planners have been developing a comprehensive bicycle and pedestrian plan.

As part of the development of the plan, the city has organized a series of public meetings to gather input. City officials, along with their consultant teams Butler, Fairman and Seufert Inc. and Kovert Hawkins Architects, will be identifying the best bicycle and walking routes for connecting visitors and residents to pertinent city landmarks like schools, parks and business.

The project is in its inventory and analysis stage, where planners gather data to make the best decisions on where to place new bicycle and walking routes throughout the city, according to a press release. As part of the data collection, the public is invited to an informative meeting to discuss the plan and give feedback as it relates to their areas of interest. Three meetings will be held:

• The first meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Jeffersonville YMCA, 4812 Hamburg Pike, in Jeffersonville;

• The second meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Park Memorial United Methodist Church, 1820 E. Park Place, in Jeffersonville;

• The final meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the 300 Spring Building, 300 Spring St., in Jeffersonville.

If you would like to provide input and cannot make one of these meetings, you can visit a website dedicated to this plan where the public can learn about the process, and react through a survey which will be online or at the Jeffersonville Planning and Zoning Office.
