NEW ALBANY

Animal Control Authority to meet

The New Albany-Floyd County Animal Control Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the NA-FC Animal Control and Shelter, 215 Market St., New Albany. The meeting will be held in the Maxwell Education Room.

Public input will take place from 7 to 7:15 p.m. The board will discuss the 2014 budget which is listed under new agenda item.



NAACP banquet set

The New Albany branch of the NAACP will sponsor the 2013 Freedom Fund Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at The Grand Theater, New Albany.

Guest speaker will be Dawne Gee and music will be provided by Jamey Abesold Jazz Quarter. Tickets are $40 each, available at the door.



CLARK COUNTY

Tea Party meeting Thursday

The Clark County Tea Party invites the public to the group’s weekly meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Silver Creek Middle School, 495 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.

Learn more about knee, hip pain

Clark Memorial Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Spine will host a free education seminar on osteoarthritis and knee and hip pain from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Clark Memorial Hospital, 1220 Missouri Ave.

Dr. Brent Walz, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, will lead the seminar focusing on the causes of knee and hip pain, the importance of a proper diagnosis and discuss conservative and surgical treatment options. Additional information will be available on Clark Memorial’s Fast Track Joint Replacement program.

SELLERSBURG

Church hosting pig roast Friday

Sellersburg United Methodist Church, 226 N. New Albany St., Sellersburg, will sponsor a pig roast from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20.

Drive thru will be available for carry-out dinners. There also will be desserts and drawings for two $100 gift cards. Prices are: adult meal $10; child’s meal $5. Tickets are sold in advance. For more information, call the church office at 812-246-2502.



FLOYD COUNTY

FCHS class to reunite

Floyd Central High School class of 1973’s 40-year reunion is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, for classmates only at New Albany Roadhouse, Graybrook Lane, New Albany, and 7 to 11 p.m. Sept. 21 for classmates and significant others, at the Knights of Columbus, New Albany.

The cost for Saturday is $25 per person. Food and soft drinks provided, and a cash bar will be available. There will be door prizes and entertainment will be provided by Scott Schindler and Bryan Huff. No registration is required. Pay at the door the evening of the event.



SOUTHERN INDIANA

Brain injury group to meet

The September meeting of the Southern Indiana Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Education Conference Room at Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, 3104 Blackiston Blvd., New Albany.

All survivors, family, friends or anyone else that has an interest are invited to come. Refreshments will be served.



CHARLESTOWN

Chamber to meet Thursday

The next meeting of the Charlestown Chamber will be at noon Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Charlestown Arts and Enrichment Center, 999 Water St., Charlestown.

Lunch will be provided by the Copper Kettle and the guest speaker will be Matt Hall of One Southern Indiana.
