Traffic shifts to affect 10th Street motorists

Bridges project construction closures, restrictions listed

The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next in connection with construction on the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

In Indiana, two shifts in the traffic patterns will affect drivers on 10th Street in Jeffersonville. The northbound exit and entrance ramp in Jeffersonville has been reduced to one lane for long-term work in the area. The ramp is reduced to one lane between 10th Street and Stansifer Avenue. The closure will be in place through late 2015 to build a new retaining wall and eventually a new entrance ramp from 10th Street to Interstate 65 north.

Starting Monday, Dec. 16, drivers will now yield, instead of merging onto 10th Street from I-65 north in Jeffersonville. The new traffic pattern is expected to take effect by 3 p.m. Monday.

Additional traffic restrictions include U.S. 31 south (exit ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes. U.S. 31 south, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane, but vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street.

Work currently underway in Louisville includes a closure on Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, through Monday, Dec. 16, for work on a storm sewer.

Floyd Street, from Liberty Street to Muhammad Ali Boulevard, is scheduled to be closed through Monday, Dec. 23, for pile driving.

Witherspoon Street, from just east of Louisville Slugger Field to Clay Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Dec. 13, for work in the area.

The right lane of westbound Witherspoon Street, from River Road to Adams Street, is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 21, for work on a retaining wall.

The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 21, for work on a retaining wall.

The right lane and right parking lane on Preston Street, from Market Street to Liberty Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 21, for pile driving.

The left lane and both parking lanes on Jefferson Street, from Jackson Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 21, for pile driving and excavation work.

The right lane and left lane of Liberty Street, from Floyd Street to Preston Street, are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, Dec. 21, for excavation and demolition work.

Work scheduled for next week in Kentucky includes rolling closures that are expected to begin overnight Monday, Dec. 16, on I-65 north and I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to Muhammad Ali Boulevard for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

Rolling closures are also expected overnight Monday, Dec. 16, on I-64 east and I-64 west from 22nd Street to Story Avenue for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

Rolling closures are expected overnight Tuesday, Dec. 17, on I-71 north and I-71 south from the merge with I-64 to just east of Frankfort Avenue for pothole patching. Work will begin around 9 p.m., with all lanes open by 5 a.m.

The left lane of I-64 west from Story Avenue to the I-65 exit is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, Dec. 17, for work on a temporary barrier wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The right lane of the ramp from I-71 south to I-65 south is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, Dec. 17, for mill and overlay work. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The right lane of I-65 south, from the approach to the Kennedy Bridge to Main Street, is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Dec. 18, for work on a temporary barrier wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The left lane of I-64 east from Third Street to just east of the I-71 north exit is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday, Dec. 18, for work on a temporary barrier wall. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
