Leadership Southern Indiana announces program, event

SELLERSBURG — Mix and mingle at LSI event

Leadership Southern Indiana will hold its next Mix, Mingle and Learn Alumni Event on Thursday, June 5, aboard the Belle of Louisville. The event, which will be co-hosted with Leadership Louisville, will provide an opportunity for hundreds of alumni and community leaders to network and share stories while cruising down the Ohio Rive.

In addition to networking, guests will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the downtown and east-end crossings from leaders in Kentucky and Indiana directing the projects.

“I can’t think of a better place to learn about the work being done to connect our region other than right on the Ohio River aboard one of our communities’ greatest treasures,” said Mark Eddy, LSI executive director, in a news release. “This event provides a unique opportunity for LSI alumni and guests to mingle with leaders throughout the region.”

Boarding begins at 4:30 p.m. at 401 W. River Road with the cruise starting at 5 p.m. The cost is $15 for alumni who are members of LSI and $35 for nonmembers. Anyone interested in attending should register at by May 30. Social hour includes hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary Brown-Forman cocktail.

LSI taking program applications

The application period for Leadership Southern Indiana’s Engage Class of 2015 is open. Engage is LSI’s newest six-month intensive professional development program targeted at individuals seeking to have greater impact in their community. Applications are being accepted now through June 20.

According to Mark Eddy, LSI executive director, Engage is designed for individuals already involved in public service that want to make an even greater impact as well as emerging leaders who want to be more involved in their community.

“Engage is a one-of-a-kind program,” Eddy said in a release. “Unlike our flagship Discover program, which is designed as the ‘first step’ to leadership development, the goal of Engage is to take pre-existing leaders and refine them to become even greater assets to our community.”

The program kicks-off with an Aug. 28 meet-and-greet then meets one day each month for an in-depth look at the various facets of Southern Indiana including: fundraising, communications, ethics, political connections & community action, board structure and leadership brand. Graduation will be held May 14, 2015.

Tuition is $1,195 for nonmembers and $995 for members, which covers all program costs. For more information or to apply, visit or call 812-246-6574.
