JEFF Fest brings family fun to downtown Jeffersonville

Annual event attracts families with games, food and vendors

JEFFERSONVILLE — Credit the opening of the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge, or perhaps the warm and dry weather for the solid turnout at Saturday’s JEFF Fest.

Regardless of the reason, the festival continues to attract families with games, food and vendors.

“It’s been very nice and very pleasant, and we’ve met a lot of great people,” said Marla Thomas of Dove Support Ministry Inc.

The organization setup a booth with information about its cause and also sold food until supplies ran out about an hour before the festival concluded.

The event is sponsored by Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. and held at Preservation Park.

Vendors sold plants, jewelry and food. There was a large play area for the kids complete with inflatable bounce houses, and even a pony in the middle of the park that drew quite a bit of attention.

There was also live music, face painting and other activities during the free event.

Like Dove Support Ministry, many local organizations used JEFF Fest as an opportunity to disperse information to residents.

“I believe it helps even with networking,” said Deborah Nichols, development director at Family Ark, which had a booth at the festival Saturday.

The festival provided another opportunity for people to explore the new attractions and restaurants in downtown Jeffersonville.

It was Linda Denning’s first time at the festival, and she credited Jeffersonville for bringing family-friendly entertainment downtown.

“I think the event is wonderful,” she said.
