NEW ALBANY

VFW auxiliary serving breakfast

Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 3281, New Albany, will sponsor a traditional breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at the post home, 232 E. Fifth St., New Albany.

The cost is $6 per person.

Group holds Father’s Day event

Community Women for Unity and Equality, New Albany, will sponsor a special Father’s Day program at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Galatian Baptist Church, 2020 Maryland Ave., New Albany.

Come and hear what the Father’s have to say about being a father, then listed to the response from the children.

Lunch & Learn at the Carnegie

From noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at the Carnegie Center for Art and History, 201 E. Spring St., New Albany, Geoffrey Weiss of Hanover College will show clips from the film “The Loving Story,” which tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a mixed race couple who were arrested in 1958 for violating the state of Virginia’s miscegenation laws which prohibited interracial marriage.

On June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court issued a landmark decision in Loving v. Virginia which overturned anti-miscegenation laws in the United States. Weiss will lead a discussion.

Participants can bring a lunch, drinks are provided. This program is free, but registration is required by calling 812-944-7336 or email  dthomas@carnegiecenter.org

SELLERSBURG

Kids College starts Monday

Ivy Tech Southern Indiana will host its annual summer Kids College enrichment program, which includes children in grades two through five, Monday, June 16.

The program features a variety of courses including Lego robotics, cupcake creations, cool chemists, photography and more.

The program is from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday, June 16-19.

JEFFERSONVILLE

K of C holding dinner

The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 13, at the K of C. Hall.

The menu will be: chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8.

A large portion of the proceeds will be given to charity.
