Learn more about herbs

On Saturday, March 23, the Kentuckiana Herb Society will present its 21st annual Spring Education Day, “Herbs — For Use and Delight” at Huber’s Orchard & Winery, Plantation Hall, 19816 Huber Road, Borden.

Speakers throughout the day will include Susan Liechty with information on travel and culinary recipes of Italy, and Stacy Walters, RKT with a presentation on being fit in the garden. The $35 fee includes morning tea with pastries and fruit and Huber’s buffet lunch. There will be door prizes as well as plants and herbal marketplace items for sale. Brain injury group to meet

The March meeting of the Southern Indiana Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Education Conference Room at Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, 3104 Blackiston Blvd., New Albany.

Family, friends or anyone else that has an interest are invited to come. Refreshments will be served. 

 

CLARK COUNTY

Message board work to close lanes

The Indiana Department of Transportation is advising motorists there will be temporary lane restrictions on Interstate 65 in Clark County. 

The Hoosier Co. will be installing temporary barrier walls for construction of the foundations for a Dynamic Message Board on northbound I-65 at the 2.8 mile marker. Lanes affected will be the inner and outer most travel lanes. This work will continue Wednesday night for the southbound lanes at the same location. Lane restrictions will take place during the evening hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next morning. The barrier wall placement will close the interstate’s shoulders at both locations until work is completed.

Coalition holding thank-you breakfast

Grassroots Prevention Coalition of Clark County is sponsoring a community “thank you” breakfast titled “Spring Fling” from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at Kye’s I, 500 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville. 

A silent auction begins at 7:30 a.m., sponsored by Grassroots Prevention Coalition of Clark County and Community Action of Southern Indiana. The breakfast is free, but there will be a free-will offering.

The purpose of the breakfast to thank the community for uniting and working together to  reducing substance abuse with youth in Clark County, response to the 2011 Epidemiological Profile of Clark County, celebrating the accomplishments of the past year and a silent auction and pledging for the 2013 Grassroots Prevention Scholarship Awards.

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is hosting the monthly Make-It Take It Easter at 6 p.m. today, March 20, in the lower level lounge at the library. This month’s theme is Easter cupcakes.

Easter cupcakes can make edible gifts for friends or family. With some creativity and ingenuity, participants can use simple ingredients to make fun, enjoyable designs.
