JEFFERSONVILLE — A small length of sewer along Utica Pike that collapsed a few weeks ago will be repaired next week, causing a temporary road closure.

Len Ashack, utility director for the Jeffersonville Waste Water Department, asked the Board of Public Works on Wednesday for approval to close Utica Pike at Chippewa Drive on May 7 and 8 for work on the sewer, which has a metal plate over it until then.

He said crews were going to repair the line a few weeks ago but other business arose. They’re waiting until next week to start work so that the closure doesn’t interfere with Kentucky Derby weekend.

The repairs are on an 80-foot section of sewer.

Traffic will be detoured up Kewanna Drive and over to Blanchel Terrace for the Wednesday and Thursday closure.
