Band boosters selling flowers

Jeffersonville High School’s annual Band Booster flower sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in front of the school, 2315 Allison Lane, Jeffersonville.

There will be hanging baskets, annuals, perrenials and other beautiful plants to choose from at an affordable price.

Big Four moves forward

Work on the Big Four Bridge ramp is moving forward as installation of lighted handrails continues.

Hummel Electric finished installing electrical wiring to the rails and all lights are functional, according to a press release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The curved sections of the handrails that arrived on site last week all fit properly.

All that remains is installation of expansion joints in the railing, which are expected to arrive early next week, and lighted handrails for the stair tower.


Police to host open house

The Clarksville Police Department will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10. The police department building recently underwent renovations. The public is invited to tour the facility, view newly equipped police vehicles and the department Humvee. Refreshments will be served, and children will receive free face painting. Identification fingerprinting also will be available.


Family Fun Workshop Saturday

The Carnegie Center Family Fun Workshops have been a great success and these drop-in classes in the lower level are the perfect way for families to spend Saturday morning together.  

Spring is here, and Mother’s Day is just around the corner on Sunday, May 11. To celebrate  moms, grandmas, aunts or special friends, clay fingerprint pendants will be made at the May 10 Family Fun Workshop.

This drop-in workshop is free and open to the first 60 participants, suggested ages 2-12.  Registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Participants should arrive no later than 11:30 a.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Carnegie Center is located at 201 E. Spring St., New Albany.

West Spring Street School reunion May 17

The West Spring Street reunion will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the New Albany Roadhouse Restaurant, 1706 Graybrook Lane, New Albany.

May 10 is all about pets

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library Public 9th annual Pet Fair, 2:30 p.m., May 10, at the library, 180 W. Spring St., New Albany.

Find information on pet health, rescue, adoption, and services.

There will be a pet costume parade beginning at 2:30 p.m., followed by a pet trick contest at 3 p.m. Please sign up for either event prior to the parade. Judges will pick the best participants and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed pet and the most unique pet trick.

Free and open to the public. Pets must be on leashes. Located in the Scribner Drive parking lot with live music, snacks, crafts, and fun for the whole family.
