Brain injury group to meet

The May meeting of the Southern Indiana Traumatic Brain Injury

Foundation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, in the Education Conference Room at Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, 3104 Blackiston Blvd., New Albany.

News and Tribune extends hours

The New Albany office of the News and Tribune, 303 Scribner Drive, is now open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office will be closed from 11:30 to noon for lunch.

Hours at the Jeffersonville office, 221 Spring St., are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Animal Control board to meet

The New Albany-Floyd County Animal Control Authority meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Maxwell Education Room and the animal shelter, 215 W. Market St., New Albany.

The meeting is open to the public.

St. Mary’s spaghetti dinner set

The Men’s Club of St. Mary Catholic Church, New Albany, will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in Trinity Hall [use ramp entrance off parking lot], 415 E. Eighth St., New Albany.

Menu includes spaghetti, salad, ice cream and drink. A free will donation will be taken.

Get a taste of Jeffersonville

Taste of Jeffersonville will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at Kye’s I & II, 500 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.

Attendees can sample food from the area’s best caterers.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance at Schimpff’s Confectionery, Choices and the mayor’s office or at the door the evening of the event. For more information, call 812-285-6406.


Shrine Guild meeting Monday

The Apet Shrine Guild of the Tri-County Shrine Club, 701 Potters Lane, Clarksville, will sponsor a dessert and card party, 7 p.m., Monday, May 19, at the clubhouse.

Admission is $5 per person and includes door prizes, special prizes and desserts.


Tea Party to meet Thursday

The Clark County Tea Party invites the public to the group’s weekly meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at Silver Creek Middle School, 495 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.

The guest speaker will be Ryan Black with Americans for Prosperity.” The event is open to the public. Email for more information.

Seminar to focus on ash borer

In order to help homeowners identify and manage emerald ash borers, the Purdue Extension Office is hosting an emerald ash borer workshop at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the conference room of the extension office, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.

The cost to attend is $10; call the Extension office at 812-256-4591 to register.

Topics will include insect identification, ash tree identification, determining if your ash tree is worth saving and treatment options for infested trees.

Community yard sale on the way

A community yard sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 23 at Westminster Village Senior Living Community, 2200 Greentree North, Clarksville. Spots are available for $20.

Set up begins at 6 a.m. and vendors should bring their own tables or booths. No sales of soft drinks or candy will be allowed.
