JEFFERSONVILLE — A series of road closures were approved at Wednesday’s Jeffersonville Board of Public Works meeting and major closures are expected to be presented at the group’s next meeting.

Jeffersonville Wastewater Superintendent Len Ashack warned that there are upcoming closures that will affect drivers along Utica Pike.

“I’m coming in next week with a road closure plan that’s going to inconvenience a lot of folks,” he said.

The closures are related to the Utica Pike sewer extension project, which is slated to begin in its preparatory stages Monday.

“I will have a detailed list at the next meeting,” Ashack said.

He added that the closures will be between Allison Lane and Port Road during the next six months.

The group next meets Wednesday morning. Look for coverage in the News and Tribune.

OTHER REQUESTS

A request to intermittently close Spring and Maple streets in downtown Jeffersonville for a nonprofit video production company to film at the site was approved. The closure will take place beginning at 9 p.m. Dec. 3 until 8 a.m. the next morning.

A request to remove the snowflakes adorning Spring Street from Court to Maple streets for the video shoot was approved contingent on approval from the city’s parks and street departments.

The board of public works agreed to block off a cul-de-sac on Bridgeport Road, near Utica-Sellersburg Road, because people are driving back the road and dumping items.
