A collection box is located at the office at 279 Quartermaster Court and donations are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

GEORGETOWN

Santa’s workshop on the way

Georgetown Elementary School will host its Seventh Annual Santa’s Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8 in the school gymnasium, 8800 High St. in Georgetown.

The workshop will include a variety of activities for kids to enjoy, including a chance to make ornaments and other crats, decorate their own edible Christmas tree, engage in a friendly snowball fight while they play in the snow or win a special treat on the cake walk. 

Santa’s Secret Workshop will also let kids make and wrap gifts for their families.

Santa will be on hand to pose for pictures and listen to wish lists. Donuts and milk will be for sale. 

 

NEW ALBANY

Open house at Padgett Museum

The Floyd County Historical Society will host its Annual Christmas Open House at the Padgett Museum, 509 W. Market St., in New Albany, from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The museum will be decorated for the holidays and homemade desserts will be served. The event is free and open to the public. 

 

Indiana Room offering tours

There have been many changes taking place at the Stuart B. Wrege Indiana Room at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library over the past four months. During the week of Dec. 10-15 Matt Eidem, Indiana Room archivist, will be giving tours of areas of the Indiana Room that patrons will not have access to throughout the rest of the year.

The tour will consist of the Indiana Room, its two collection storage areas, and a demonstration of the library’s new overhead scanner which will be used to digitize fragile materials. Tours will last 20 to 30 minutes.

Tours are available at the following date and time: Dec. 10-12, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.; Dec. 13, 1 to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 15, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.
