Latest weather forecast: Southern Indiana could get slick

Area under winter weather advisory

LOUISVILLE — A winter storm warning is in effect from 4 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Monday south of Ohio River, including Louisville, according to newsgathering partner WAVE 3 News. A winter weather advisory has also been issued for areas north of Ohio River, and Hart, Green, Taylor, Adair in Kentucky.

A few slick spots are possible in Southern Indiana during the morning before temperatures rise a few degrees by the lunchtime hour. Falling temperatures and a second disturbance moving in will trigger snow a band of snow across the area late this afternoon into the evening. This is a tricky forecast because the band will be relatively thin and any small shift in its track will cause big changes for some folks.

At this the heaviest accumulations of two to five inches will stay along and south of the river with a sharp cut-off in amounts as you go north into Indiana. Our southern tier of counties in Kentucky from Lebanon to Cambellsville to Munfordville can expect one to two inches with up to an inch south of that line. Snow looks to exit just as the Monday morning commute is beginning but a snow shower or flurry are possible during the day on Monday.

Another system takes aim at the region by Tuesday, producing mostly rain but a chance for a wintry mix as well, especially across Southern Indiana.

FORECAST

TODAY: Cloudy, PM Accumulating Snow, High: 36

TONIGHT: Snow, Low: 25

MONDAY: Snow Ending by Early AM, Few Flurries, Mostly Cloudy, High: 35

TUESDAY: Rain/Wintry Mix, High: 39, Low: 26
