News and Tribune hires reporter, photographer

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The News and Tribune has hired two new staff members to its newsroom.

Elizabeth Beilman joins the News and Tribune as a staff writer, primarily covering Jeffersonville and Sellersburg.

Beilman has bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English literature from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, and graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College.

She was a copy editor and reporter for WKU’s College Heights Herald and a writing editor for the school’s yearbook, the Talisman. Beilman, a Louisville native, also did an internship in 2012 for The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Tyler Stewart has been hired as a staff photographer for the News and Tribune. Stewart, a New Albany native, attended Ball State University with a major in photojournalism and a background in graphic design.

He has completed internships at Nashville Lifestyles Magazine and The Star Press in Muncie.

He was photo editor at the Ball State Daily News in 2010. He also has regularly photographed area concerts, such as Forecastle Festival.

“It’s great to add two talented young journalists to our award-winning News and Tribune editorial staff,” said Editor Shea Van Hoy. “They’re already out in the community, telling the stories of Southern Indiana residents.”

Beilman can be reached by email at elizabeth.beilman@newsandtribune.com or by phone at 812-206-2114 and Stewart can be reached at tyler.stewart@newsandtribune.com or by phone at 812-206-2112.
