Purdue looking to market new technologies

Partnership should aid entrepreneurs locally

NEW ALBANY — The Purdue Technology Center of Southeast Indiana will serve as the meeting and planning site for a project officials said will help generate more startup companies in Southern Indiana.

The Purdue Foundry, Purdue Technology Center and Boiling Point LLC are partnering to identify business models that will help “commercialize Purdue Technologies,” a release issued on Wednesday stated. Officials from Purdue and Boiling Point will meet on a regular basis to decide which technologies to market based on business plans, market analysis and licensing rights.

“What’s great about Boiling Point partnering with Purdue is that we know the university has a constant stream of technologies moving through their pipeline,” Boiling Point founder Mike Pattison said in the news release. “We have already identified a number of patented technologies that are available and we are working to connect the technologies to local entrepreneurs and venture capitalists with an end goal to create a startup and get these innovations to the market.”

The Purdue Research Park of Southeast Indiana, located off Charlestown Road, houses 11 startup companies and 107 employees. The center helps businesses expand into manufacturing their products and designs by offering accelerator, managed mail and marketing services.

“There are a number of serial entrepreneurs in this area who have a strong desire to move cutting edge technologies to the real world where they can make a difference,” said Paul Moses, director of the Purdue Technology Center. “This agreement will help generate more startups in Southern Indiana and give local and regional entrepreneurs the opportunity to take advantage of the incubator program at the Purdue Technology Center.”
