Slate Run plans 50th birthday party
Calling all present and former Slate Run Elementary School faculty, students and parents: Slate Run is turning 50 and needs your help.
Gather up your favorite Slate Run photos and items for the school’s 50th birthday celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Mark your calendar to browse through memorabilia, mingle with former faculty and students, stroll through the school, and enjoy light refreshments. Don’t miss the 20-minute program at 3 p.m.

Gun club hosts meeting
The Dead Eye Daisies, a women’s gun club established in 2010, invites ladies of all ages to the group’s monthly meeting, 7 to 8 p.m., Oct. 8, at Hi-Tek Firearms and Training, 123 Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.

Library shows frightful films
The Charlestown Clark County Public Libraries is pleased to announce the first annual Fright Night Film Festival. Come to the library to watch some horror classics during the month of October. Dates and times are as follows:

Chicken dinner for charity
The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all you can eat chicken dinner, 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 11, at the K of C. Hall.
The menu of chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8.
A large portion of the proceeds will be given to charity.
