Emergency training is Thursday
The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency and the Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold a training exercise from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 24 at Floyd Central High School.
There will be emergency equipment in the area during the exercise. It is possible that law enforcement and/or fire personnel will be in neighborhoods with evacuation and shelter instructions. This is only a drill. Residents should not panic and no action will be necessary. This exercise is being held for training purposes only.
Church holding shredding event
A shredding event sponsored by the Women of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1506 Spring St., Jeffersonville, will be from 9 to 11 a.m., April 27, at the church.
A-Plus Shredding Company will have a truck on site to pulverize your confidential documents within minutes. Minimum donation, $5.
5k will help animal rescue
Southern Indiana Animal Rescue and the Jeffersonville Fire Department are hosting a a 5k run/walk called Fido’s 5k benefiting the Koko Project, 9 a.m., May 11, at the Overlook on Riverside Drive. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and if they bring their dog, they will receive a bandanna to wear.

Llama Club hosting workshop
The Clark County Luv-a-lot Llama Club will host a llama workshop and show at the Indiana Fiber and Music Festival on April 27 at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Charlestown. 4-Hers in Area II — Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Scott, Washington, Lawrence and Orange County — are invited.
The senior 4-Hers of Clark County will present the workshop beginning at 8 a.m. and will go over the fundamentals of showmanship and obstacle performance. At 10 a.m. they will break for half an hour and then resume with a show to test the skills learned.
