Falls of the Ohio Foundation secures $500K grant

CLARKSVILLE — The Falls of the Ohio Foundation announced the successful completion of its $500,000 James Graham Brown Foundation challenge grant toward completion of the Crossroads Campaign for New Exhibits.

The challenge grant began in April, requiring the Falls Foundation to raise $1 million in order to receive a $500,000 match from the James Graham Brown Foundation. Since April, the Falls Foundation has raised $1,246,000. This new challenge grant is in addition to the 2009 James Graham Brown Foundation grant of $500,745.06 previously given to the campaign.

"This additional support from the James Graham Brown Foundation is a critical contribution to our campaign. It sends the message that this Louisville-based foundation understands the impact of the Falls of the Ohio on our entire region,” said Diane Swank, Falls of the Ohio Foundation president, in a news release.

The James Graham Brown Foundation was established under a trust agreement in 1943 and formally incorporated in 1954. James Graham Brown instructed foundation trustees to “promote the well-being of the citizens of Louisville and Kentucky.”

The James Graham Brown Foundation’s focus on enhancing the image of the area and promoting the well-being of its residents aligns perfectly with the Crossroads Campaign for new exhibits, according to the news release.

The Falls Foundation will complete the $5.5 million Crossroads Campaign at the end of the year. Exhibit design has been completed by the Louisville-based, nationally recognized museum design company Solid Light. The design includes substantial building modifications as well as ADA upgrades to the Interpretive Center.

Exhibit fabrication will begin in 2014 with a dedication of the new exhibits in early 2015.
