Bridge work restarts after stoppage due to weather

U.S. 31 south scheduled to close Wednesday night

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Work on the downtown portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project is expected to restart late tonight and Wednesday after workers being off the job because of extremely low temperatures that hit the region.

In Indiana, work is scheduled to begin again on Wednesday on Stansifer Avenue between U.S. 31 north and U.S. 31 south is scheduled to close overnight Wednesday for demolition work in the area, according to a news release from the bridges project. It’s expected to close around midnight and reopen by 5 a.m.

Work scheduled to begin today included the closure of one lane of Interstate 64 west from Story Avenue to the I-65 exit ramp overnight Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 9, for demolition work in the area.  It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

The entrance ramp from Story Avenue to I-64 west was scheduled to close overnight tonight and Wednesday for demolition work in the area. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. both days. A signed detour will be in place.

The right lane of I-64 East from Ninth Street to Witherspoon Street is scheduled to close overnight Thursday for a guardrail repair. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.
