It’s trivia night in the neighborhood

Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Alliance will hold its annual Trivia Night fundraiser at 7 p.m. April 25.

The 2014 fundraiser will bring neighborhood associations, businesses, clubs and local government groups together for a night of adult camaraderie and fun competition. In addition to competing for prizes through trivia, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction will be provided. A cash bar will also be available.

JNLA is an alliance of neighborhood leaders who work to improve the city of Jeffersonville. The funds raised are used to help new neighborhood associations get started, provide supplies and support to neighborhoods, hold safety programs for the neighborhoods and to sponsor the National Night Out in August each year.

Grasroots sponsoring breakfast

Grassroots Prevention Coalition of Clark County will sponsor a free community breakfast from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Kye’s I, 500 Missouri Ave., Jeffersonville.

A silent auction begins at 8 a.m.

The speaker will be Senator Ron Grooms, followed by an update on Grassroots efforts.

Pet food pantry now open

Sophie’s Hope Thrift Shoppe has opened its pet food pantry called Sophie’s Cupboard.

The pantry offers free cat and dog food and other pet items for those who can’t afford it.

Those in need can pick up these items at Sophie’s Thrift Shoppe in Jeffersonville at 3808 E. 10th Street. Donations are still being accepted to ensure that the pantry remains stocked.

Sophie’s Thrift Shoppe donates a portion of its proceeds to the Southern Indiana Animal Rescue.

Jeffersonville Main Street Inc. announced that two grant applications are now available online.

The Front Porch Project and Storefront Improvement grant applications can be found at the organization’s website — JeffMainStreet.org.

Cancer advancements to be discussed

Dr. Mian F. Mushtaq, hematology oncologist at North Cancer Institute, invites the public to a luncheon to learn about the advancements in oncology care and the developing oncology resources in Southern Indiana.

The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday, March 20 and March 21, at Bristol Bar & Grille, 700 W. Riverside Drive, Jeffersonville.

Fundraiser for candidate set

A campaign fundraiser for Dennis Ettel for Clark County Commissioner will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Clark County Conservation Club, Conservation Drive, Utica.

Food and set-ups provided, along with raffle items and door prizes.

NEW ALBANY

Dance to benefit Relay for Life

A dance to benefit Relay for Life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at JR’s Pub, 826 W. Main St., New Albany.

The band Mixed Nuts will play and there will be a live auction. Admission is $10. The event is being hosted by Vickie Craig and the Dream team.
