Open house sessions on east-end bridge set

CLARK COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana Finance Authority and WVB East End Partners have planned two sets of open house events in April regarding the east-end crossing.

First will be a pair of open house events where INDOT/IFA and WVB will display renderings that illustrate the planned aesthetic and landscaping  concepts for the east-end crossing, according to a press release.

The public may arrive at any time during the events, view the displays and will be provided an opportunity to furnish written comments related to the displays. Project representatives will be available to answer questions about the concepts. No formal presentations will be made at these events.

The displays will include concepts pertaining to various elements of the east-end crossing, including walls, fences, railings, lighting, surface treatments and landscaping, according to the release.

The first open house will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the John Nobel Woods Utica Community Center, 106 N. Fourth St. in Utica. The second event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road in Louisville.

At the second set of open houses, INDOT/IFA and WVB East End Partners invite residents to learn about planned blasting activities and other construction impacts related to the construction of the east-end crossing, including traffic maintenance plans.

Attendees will receive information regarding pre-blast surveys that will be performed for structures within 500 feet of blasting areas on both sides of the river, as well as information about how monitoring will be done during blasting activities. They also will receive information regarding the general timeline for blasting operations.

In addition, INDOT will provide information at the open house regarding the public’s opportunity to submit technical documentation in support of a request to prepare and implement blasting and vibration monitoring plans for additional historic structures.

More information is available on the website at: http://updates.kyinbridges.com/information-for-preparing-requests-for-blasting-and-vibration-monitoring-plans-for-additional-historic-structures.

The open houses will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at John Nobel Woods Utica Community Center, 106 N. Fourth St. in Utica; and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Springdale Community Church, East Campus, Main Building, 4601 Springdale Road in Louisville.
