Jeffersonville teens to perform in finals of national band competition

A group of Southern Indiana teen musicians are among the nation’s best.

Local teenage band Beyond Doubt is set to perform live, along with seven other bands, Saturday at the finals of SchoolJam, a national battle of the bands competition.

The National Association of Music Merchants battle of the bands contest is designed to encourage teen bands across the United States to demonstrate their musical talents and enjoy the many benefits of making music, according to a press release. All of the eight finalist bands will receive prize money to purchase new gear for their band, as well as additional funding for their school music programs. The winning band will also travel to Europe next year to perform at the SchoolJam finals in Frankfurt, Germany.

The bands will face off in the finals on Saturday, Jan. 26, in downtown Disneyland located in Anaheim, Calif.

The winning band will be determined by a panel of music judges and public vote.

Beyond Doubt is made up of Louisville and Jeffersonville teens singer Alison Nelson, guitarists Dustin Goodwin and Skyler Jones, bassist Matt Purlee and drummer Austin Miller.
