JEFFERSONVILLE — The Jeffersonville Police Department is asking community members to help identify a man accused of robbing Thorton’s gas station on West Court Avenue early Tuesday morning.

A man wearing a black-knit cap, a light colored pull-over sweater and blue jeans entered the business at 401 West Court Ave. about 3:30 a.m.

The suspect approached the counter and pointed a handgun at the clerk.

He then forced the clerk to open the register and was given undisclosed amount of cash.

After robbing the business, he was last seen fleeing on foot toward a vehicle parked behind a nearby business.

The suspect is described as a black man between 5 feet and 8 inches and 5 feet and 11 inches tall with a thin to medium build.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Jeffersonville police at 283-6633.
