CLARK COUNTY — Hoosier motorists will see changes to the entrance and exit ramps on Interstate 65 at Court Avenue starting this weekend.

A closure of the right lane of the Kennedy Bridge will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 29. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be documenting repairs made last month and examining a repair made earlier this year, according to a bridges project press release.

But the major change for drivers will start later on Monday and will remain in effect for the duration of the Ohio River Bridges Project. The closure of the right lane of I-65 north, starting at the south end of the Kennedy Bridge and ending at Court Avenue, will begin at 9 p.m. Monday. The work that will take place will result in Exit 0 being reduced from two lanes to one. The exit ramp will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the bridges project.

In addition to the changes that will go into effect Monday night, motorists will need to find an alternate route onto I-65 southbound from Court Avenue on Saturday morning in Jeffersonville.

The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close the Court Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-65 for several hours Saturday morning to repair a section of damaged guardrail along the ramp.

The work will take place between 7 and 11 a.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route, such as the 10th Street ramp, to access southbound I-65 during those hours.

The left lane of U.S. 31 southbound will also close from under the Brown Station Way overpass and ending just north of Stansifer Avenue. The closure is scheduled to begin Monday evening and will continue for the next few weeks as crews construct temporary pavement in the area.

Several road closures are also scheduled for the Kentucky side of the Ohio River, related to the bridges project.

The right lane of I-64 west from Witherspoon Street to I-65 south is scheduled to be closed overnight Monday, July 29, through Thursday, Aug. 1. The overnight closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. each evening and reopen by 5 a.m. the next morning.

The right lane of I-64 eastbound is scheduled to close at the Kentucky state line overnight on Tuesday, July 30 for tree trimming. The right lane of I-64 east from Ninth Street to I-65 is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, July 30, and Wednesday, July 31, for work on temporary lighting. The right lane of I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to the I-64 west ramp is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, July 30, and Thursday, Aug. 1, for work on temporary lighting. The right lane of I-65 south from the Kennedy Bridge to Main Street is scheduled to close overnight on Friday, Aug. 2 to prepare for upcoming demolition work.
