NEWS AND TRIBUNE
NEW ALBANY —
Hope is much more than the first word of a long-standing Christian ministry based in New Albany. It’s the essence of Hope Southern Indiana’s services to people of all ages.
And now, kicking off the holiday season, the word and encouragement are embodied in a new, specially designed ornament available for purchase to support area families and individuals through the nonprofit’s life-changing programs and ministry, according to a news release.
The silvertone dove (3 1/2” by 3 3/4” by 1/8” thick) with Hope’s logo laser-engraved in white is $25 and comes in a silver satin bag with a card for those who wish to use it as a gift for any occasion.
Not only is Christmas an opportune time to buy a dove, according to Hope Southern Indiana’s Executive Director, Christine Harbeson, but it is meaningful for many other occasions as well.
SPECIAL USES FOR DOVE
Whether hanging on a Christmas tree or on a small stand for display at any time of the year, the dove can be given as a memorial at the time of someone’s death or as a gift for other occasions, such as birthdays, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, promotions and thank-yous.
Harbeson suggests that recipients could be anyone.
“The possibilities are many,” Harbeson said, “especially for those who are looking for a special gift for someone who may be hard to buy for. The dove symbolizes, then, not only the thoughtfulness of the purchaser but a meaningful benefit to others in our community.”
AVAILABLE ALL YEAR
The public may purchase doves throughout the year by taking a check (payable to Hope Southern Indiana) to the agency in the Brown-Starks Neighborhood Place at 1200 Bono Road in New Albany between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. Or purchase them on line at hopesi.org. Of the price, $15 is tax-deductible.
