Starlight vegetable growers to meet

The annual Starlight Area Vegetable Growers Meeting will be held March 13 in the Barnyard Bash II Building at Joe Huber Family Farm and Restaurant, Starlight.

The annual educational program will begin with registration and dinner from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by a program by Purdue Extension specialists and the Clark County Purdue Extension educator.

Participants are asked to preregister for this event by March 10 to allow for adequate preparations. Preregistration may be completed by calling the Purdue Extension Office at 812-945-4591 or by contacting Extension Educator David Hynes by email at dhynes@purdue.edu

NEW ALBANY

Ash Wednesday service scheduled

Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 Charlestown Road, New Albany will be hosting a multichurch Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. March 5.

Participating churches are: Centenary UMC, DePauw UMC, Jacobs Chapel UMC, Main Street UMC and Silver Street UMC. This will be a service of helping folks to reconnect with God.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It is not required that you be a member of these churches, or of any church for that matter, to attend.

Additionally, starting Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. a Lenten study — “24 Hours That Changed the World” by Adam Hamilton — will be held. This study will continue each week through the Monday before Easter

FLOYDS KNOBS

Church hosting pancake supper

Chapel Hill Christian Church, U.S. 150, and Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs, will sponsor a pancake and sausage supper at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 4,  in the Fellowship Hall to celebrate the beginning of Lent.  

Following the pancake supper, Phil and Rhonda Foley will present a concert. The Foleys are Christian missionaries with Bible ministry in Southeast Asia.

There will be a free will love offering.
