Louisville looking to Indiana for ideas

Organization seeking input on improvements

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Louisville Metro Government is reaching out to Southern Indiana to get its input.

Vision Louisville will host its sixth town hall meeting, and the only one being held in Indiana, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Ivy Tech Southern Indiana, 8204 Old Ind. 311 in Sellersburg.

“I think people who live in Southern Indiana have a unique perspective on what works and what doesn’t in Louisville,” said Chris Poynter, spokesman for Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “They work here, they travel here, they come to visit here — this is their city, too,” he said as to why the mayor’s office was seeking Hoosier input.

The Vision Louisville project is on a mission to gather 45,000 ideas in 45 days about how residents think the city should look, feel and flow in the next 25 years, according to a news release from Fischer’s office.

Ideas people have regarding future improvements in green initiatives, healthy lifestyle promotion, neighborhoods, economic growth, transit, the arts, or anything that will better the overall identity of Louisville are welcome. No idea is too big or too small — or too wild and wacky — and no one is too young or too old to participate in the effort.

Ideas can also be submitted online at visionlouisville.com or through social media — on Twitter @visionlville [use the hashtag #visionlou]; on Facebook: VisionLouisville; and ideas are also welcome via text message to 502-603-6060.
