Trial delay request for Gibson denied

His trial is set for Sept. 23

NEW ALBANY — A judge has denied a request for a delay in the trial of a man charged in the murders of three women in Southern Indiana.

Attorneys for William Clyde Gibson, New Albany, wanted to delay the trial for the murder of Christine Whitis because they need more time to prepare. Floyd County Judge Susan Orth denied the request for a delay Friday afternoon.

The body of Whitis was found in Gibson’s New Albany home April 18, 2013.

Gibson’s trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 23 in Floyd County. Gibson will face separate trials for the murders of Stephanie Kirk and Karen Hodella.
