Still no ID on body found over the weekend

JPD continues investigation of remains found in field

JEFFERSONVILLE — Police say they may have identified the remains of a middle-aged white male found in a field off of Holman’s Lane in Jeffersonville Sunday morning.

Jeffersonville police Detective Todd Hollis said Monday afternoon that officers were currently working to confirm the man’s identify by processing finger prints.

When confirmation of the identity is made, Hollis said, officers will contact his next of kin before disclosing the name to the public.

Hollis did say it appears there was no foul play leading to the man’s death, but declined to release other circumstances of the death and the condition of the body until positive identification is made and family is reached.

A medical examination was conducted Monday, but Hollis said police are continuing to investigate the cause of death.

The body was located by a passerby about 11 a.m. Sunday approximately 100 yards from Holman’s Lane, near Gardner Boulevard in the vicinity of a Sellersburg Water Company building.
