Access to News and Tribune

Parking on Spring Street in front of the News and Tribune’s Jeffersonville office during construction of the Chestnut Streetscape project can be accessed via the Maple and Spring streets intersection, or via the alley just north of Preservation Park. Parking is also available in the public lot directly to the east of the News and Tribune.

The project has closed the intersection of Spring and Chestnut streets.


Affordable Care Act focus of forum 

State, hospital and health care officials will take part in a One Southern Indiana-sponsored forum next week on the Affordable Care Act. 

Medicaid expansion, patient effects and insurance rates related to the federal legislation will be among the topics covered during the event, which will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. July 24 at Northside Christian Church in New Albany. 

Speakers will include Indiana Hospital Association President Doug Leonard, Stites and Harbison Associate Ozair Shariff and Joe Gilbert, regional vice president for Anthem BlueCross/BlueShield of Indiana. 

The forum will be moderated by state Rep. Ed Clere. The cost of the event is $30 for 1si members and $45 for nonmembers. For more information or to register, visit the website


Ivy Tech hosting open house

Ivy Tech Southern Indiana, 8204 Ind. 311, Sellersburg, will hold an open house for admissions from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, in the Community Room located within Ogle Hall on the Sellersburg campus.

The open house will include presentations on financial aid and the admissions process. Academic deans, faculty and student services representatives will be available to provide information on specific programs of study. In addition, the event will feature a discussion panel about limited enrollment health care programs and campus tours throughout the evening.
