Public meetings to discuss tolling

JEFFERSONVILLE —

The Ohio River Bridges Project is set to host two public meetings to gather public input on tolling for the Interstate 65 corridor and the new east-end bridge.

Indiana Sen. Ron Grooms, R-Jeffersonville, is encouraging residents of Clark and Floyd counties to share their thoughts on the project and its potential tolling decisions by attending the upcoming meetings.

“Once complete, the Ohio River Bridges Project will be an important economic development tool that will fuel business growth and create jobs in Southeast Indiana,” Grooms said in a press release. “As we move forward with the project, we need to consider the impact on our families, businesses and visitors, especially when it comes to potential tolling. Your input on this issue is vital. One of my goals is to make sure we get relief for those who can least afford tolling,” he added. “I look forward to getting feedback from the community.”

The public meetings are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July, 22, at the Holiday Inn Clarksville, 505 Marriott Dr., in Clarksville; and from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Kentucky Center for African-American Heritage, 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., in Louisville.

For those who cannot attend the meetings, comments and concerns can be sent to Senator.Grooms@iga.in.gov or by calling his senate office at 800-382-9467.

Comments and a draft report on the tolling impacts can be reviewed on the Ohio River Bridges Project website kyinbridges.com and kyinbridges.wufoo.com/forms/toll-impacts-on-lowincome-and-minority-residents.

Final tolling decisions will be determined this September by the formal Tolling Body, comprised of three representatives from Indiana and three from Kentucky, according to the release.
