CLARKSVILLE — Kentuckiana Medical Center is under new management.

Galichia Hospital Group, a national healthcare development firm based in Wichita, Kan. has taken over the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, according to an announcement today.

Kentuckiana Medical Center, located off U.S. 31 in Clarksville, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July and a settlement agreement with the hospital’s creditors was reached in November, according to the release. The settlement paved the way for the new management team to take over the facility.

Along with the announcement of new management for the medical center, several other changes planned for the site were also announced. Galichia Hospital Group is planning to launch a new state-of-the-art emergency department at the medical center and increase the patient rooms from 34 to 46.

In addition to the room and services expansion, a large scope of new equipment will also be installed at the facility.

“We asked local physicians what tools they needed at Kentuckiana to provide the best possible care to patients, and we’ve purchased exactly what they requested,” Galichia Hospital Group Chairman Joseph P. Galichia, M.D. said in the release. “We had the physicians speak directly to vendors, so the physicians could offer input at every step of the process.”

Galichia’s Michael Phillips has been named CEO of Kentuckiana Medical Center and will lead the expansion efforts underway, according to the release.
